Here you can see a close-up of the arch above the entrance to Les Invalides, showing the many details as well as a plaque with Latin inscriptions stating that the first war veterans were housed there as well as Louis the Great in the years of 1674-5.

Luckily we managed to access Les Invalides when it was quiet, allowing us to take some great pictures such as this one going down the hall way upstairs, lined with cannons on the left hand side and a plaque next to each one to describe when they had been used.
